Course Overview

The Level 3 International Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid and Use of an AED is designed for individuals responsible for the welfare of infants and children in professional or care settings. This one-day qualification provides learners with the knowledge, understanding, and practical skills required to respond effectively to paediatric emergencies. Participants will gain confidence in assessing situations, administering first aid, and safely using an automated external defibrillator (AED). Assessment is conducted through practical demonstrations and written/oral questioning to ensure competence.

Understand the role and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider
Recognize and assess emergency situations involving infants and children
Provide first aid to an infant or child who is unresponsive and breathing normally
Deliver first aid to an infant or child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally
Administer appropriate care for wounds, bleeding, and shock
Demonstrate safe and effective use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
