The Level 3 International Award in Paediatric First Aid, Use of an AED and Managing Illness and Injury is designed for individuals responsible for the welfare of infants and children. This qualification provides learners with the knowledge, understanding, and practical skills to respond effectively to a wide range of emergencies. Over two days of training, participants will gain confidence in handling situations such as unresponsiveness, breathing difficulties, bleeding, shock, fractures, burns, poisoning, and the safe use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Assessment is carried out through practical demonstrations and written/oral questioning to ensure learners are competent in applying their skills in real-life scenarios.

Learning Objectives

Understand the role and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider
Assess emergency situations and respond safely and effectively
Provide first aid to infants and children who are unresponsive and breathing normally
Deliver first aid to infants and children who are unresponsive and not breathing normally
Apply safe and effective use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
Recognize and manage shock, bleeding, and other immediate health emergencies

Day 01

Introduction to paediatric first aid and emergency response
Managing unresponsive infants and children with normal and abnormal breathing
First aid for wounds, bleeding, and shock
Safe operation and application of an AED
Responding to fractures, dislocations, and head, neck, or back injuries
Managing burns, poisoning, bites, stings, and environmental conditions such as heat or cold
