Course Overview

This course provides essential knowledge and skills for fire prevention and response. It covers understanding fire dynamics, identifying common fire hazards, and implementing effective fire safety measures in various environments. Participants will learn about emergency procedures, the proper use of fire extinguishers, and how to develop and maintain a safe fire evacuation plan. The aim is to equip individuals with the competence to minimize fire risks and act confidently during a fire emergency.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to explain the basic principles of fire (the fire triangle/tetrahedron) and identify the different classes of fire.
Participants will be able to recognize common fire hazards in residential, commercial, and industrial settings and propose methods to mitigate them.
Participants will be able to describe and apply key fire prevention strategies, including proper storage of flammable materials, electrical safety, and maintenance of fire detection systems.
Participants will be able to demonstrate the correct and safe use of various types of fire extinguishers (e.g., PASS method) for different fire classes.
Participants will be able to outline the essential components of a fire emergency action plan, including evacuation routes, assembly points, and communication procedures.
Participants will be able to describe appropriate actions to take during a fire emergency, including raising the alarm, safely evacuating, and assisting others if safe to do so.
