Course Overview

An appointed person in a lifting operation is the person in charge of the operation’s execution and safety. Although tasks may be outsourced to others, the operation’s responsibility remains with the appointed person. In addition to being an appointed person, a crane supervisor or crane operator may be employed. The nominated person must have an excellent working understanding of lifting operations and safe working practices, as this is a very serious position. This program will provide you with the foundational information and abilities necessary to perform the duties of an Appointed Person, which include identifying and implementing safe lifting systems, as well as producing method statements and risk assessments.
