Course Overview
This Scaffolding Inspector – Competent Person course is designed to provide the necessary training to comply with the Competent Person requirements as described in OSHA 1926 Subpart L regulation to Scaffolds. Instruction includes an in-depth review of the regulations for various scaffolds and also includes a hands-on practical exercise to familiarize participants with basic scaffold erection procedures. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Scaffold Competent Person (Inspector) certificate, training card and course material. This course is also a prerequisite for the Scaffold Builder. Code of Practice – 26
Learning Objectives
- Learners will be able to learn and improve upon the basic skills, techniques and record keeping of scaffolding inspections.
- Interpret OSHA Regulations, Correctly identify and apply the specific requirements of OSHA 1926 Subpart L and Code of Practice – 26 to various scaffolding systems.
- Evaluate scaffold components and assembly sites to detect potential safety hazards, structural instabilities, or non-compliance issues.
- Perform thorough pre-use and periodic inspections of scaffold structures to ensure they are safe for personnel to access.
- Gain hands-on familiarity with basic scaffold erection procedures to better understand the mechanics of a stable build.
- Determine the necessary corrective actions required to bring a scaffold into full regulatory compliance before issuing safety tags or certifications.
