Course Overview

This Scaffolding Inspector – Competent Person course is designed to provide the necessary training to comply with the Competent Person requirements as described in OSHA 1926 Subpart L regulation to Scaffolds. Instruction includes an in-depth review of the regulations for various scaffolds and also includes a hands-on practical exercise to familiarize participants with basic scaffold erection procedures. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Scaffold Competent Person (Inspector) certificate, training card and course material. This course is also a prerequisite for the Scaffold Builder. Code of Practice – 26

Learning Objectives

Learners will be able to learn and improve upon the basic skills, techniques and record keeping of scaffolding inspections.
Interpret OSHA Regulations, Correctly identify and apply the specific requirements of OSHA 1926 Subpart L and Code of Practice – 26 to various scaffolding systems.
Evaluate scaffold components and assembly sites to detect potential safety hazards, structural instabilities, or non-compliance issues.
Perform thorough pre-use and periodic inspections of scaffold structures to ensure they are safe for personnel to access.
Gain hands-on familiarity with basic scaffold erection procedures to better understand the mechanics of a stable build.
Determine the necessary corrective actions required to bring a scaffold into full regulatory compliance before issuing safety tags or certifications.
