Welding technology and processes

This  welding course will introduce you to the basic principles of welding . This has to do with the classification of the welding techniques and processes, alongside the classification of welding joints and types of welding. You will learn about the physics of welding as well as brazing and the principles of brazing. Then you will learn about soldering, adhesive bonding, and metal transfer in welding

Course Overview

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze the Fundamentals of Welding Metallurgy: Identify and describe how various metals react to the welding process, focusing on the creation of permanent metallurgical bonds between components.
  • Master Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) Principles: Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of arc welding with coated electrodes, including equipment setup, electrode selection, and the role of flux in protecting the weld pool.
  • Evaluate Metal Transfer Modes: Distinguish between the different types of metal transfer (such as globular, spray, and short-circuit) and explain their impact on weld penetration, stability, and bead quality.
  • Apply the Principles of Welding Physics: Explain the physical phenomena involved in welding, including arc stability, heat distribution, and the fluid dynamics of the molten weld pool.
  • Diagnose and Prevent Weld Defects: Utilize theoretical knowledge to identify common welding flaws and implement corrective measures to ensure structural integrity and fabrication standards.
  • Optimize Welding Parameters for Fabrication: Synthesize knowledge of processes and materials to select the most efficient welding methods and settings for specific industrial applications.
